April 22nd is Earth Day, a day to celebrate and support protecting our natural resources. At Avon Lake Regional Water, we support and practice environmental protection every day. Avon Lake Regional Water’s team works 24/7, 365 days a year, no mater what the weather is, to provide our customers with seamless water and wastewater services. Our team takes great pride in providing these services, which are critical to public health and safety, and protecting Lake Erie, which is our source of drinking water.
Over the last several years, the Avon Lake Board of Municipal Utilities has authorized critical infrastructure improvement projects that protect Lake Erie. These improvement projects include separating all the combined sewers in Avon Lake, which reduced basement backups and overflows into Lake Erie during heavy rain events; rehabilitating our Water Reclamation Facility (wastewater treatment plant), which included upgrades to our UV disinfection technology; and creating additional capacity of treated effluent water to return to Lake Erie during heavy rain events, which allows our facility to treat more water and reduce overflows into Lake Erie during heavy rain events.
Take a moment to enjoy the view of Lake Erie today. And when you are at home making a cup of coffee, washing your hands, flushing the toilet, or doing laundry, you can rest assured that Avon Lake Regional Water will ensure you have seamless water and wastewater services and protect Lake Erie.
