This Sunday, April 22nd, is Earth Day. For the Avon Lake Regional Water crew, it means celebrating our water resource to the north: Lake Erie. Each and every day, we at Avon Lake Regional Water work to serve the region by providing quality drinking water and wastewater services to our customers. In addition to providing these services, we believe it is a top priority to protect where our drinking water source comes from: Lake Erie. The following are just some of the ways Avon Lake Regional is working to protect Lake Erie:
- Working to keep combined sewer overflow out of Lake Erie by separating Avon Lake’s combined sewers
- Promoting use of refillable water bottles
- Reducing our energy consumption in operations
On this Earth Day, we hope you take a moment to reflect on the importance of Lake Erie to you and your family. Today, when you make a cup of coffee or wash your hands or flush the toilet or boil water on your stove for cooking, think about where the water comes from. Without water, we would not be able to do these activities and more.
Happy Earth Day 2018 and enjoy the water!
